About Us

From the business advantages we provide our retailers to the career paths we offer employees, Custom Brands Group (CBG) is a place of exciting growth. A Hunter Douglas company, CBG has been customizing window covering solutions for both consumers and retail partners for decades, growing steadily as we respond to our customers’ needs. For our customers, we offer a deep collection of high-quality products, which keeps us top-of-mind with consumers from coast to coast.

But CBG is more than just product. A solutions-oriented company, we pride ourselves on superior, personalized customer service and reward our franchisees, partners, and employees through valuable loyalty programs designed to help everyone succeed.

Our Story

CBG began in 1976 as a mini blinds company located in downtown Los Angeles. With a focus on producing products of lasting quality that exceeded customer expectations, we quickly became a recognized brand sold nationally through independent dealers, paint and wallpaper stores, and home centers.

In 1992, CBG was acquired by Hunter Douglas. With the backing of our new parent powerhouse, we became Alta Window Fashions, offering an expanded collection of high-quality products like shutters, wood blinds, honeycomb shades, and more through an independent dealer network. CBG’s growth continued as we added Enlightened Style, a brand designed specifically for Budget Blinds franchisees. Today, both brands are available in the U.S. and Canada.

Today, CBG is a streamlined company featuring our strongest brands and retail partners — shop-at-home, storefront, and online. We continue to earn a place in customers’ homes with our focus on lasting quality, exceptional value, and timeless style.

Our Principles and Our Values

Business is People…

  • We are one team
  • We value each individual

At CBG, we are:

  • Innovative
  • Passionate
  • Committed
  • Entrepreneurial
  • Diverse
  • Caring

At CBG, innovative thinking isn’t just confined to our products. We also strive for our working environment to be a vibrant, supportive place that gives employees new opportunities to grow. And we also want them to feel valued for their contributions.

CBG’s Circle of Excellence Program outlines a clear, achievable progression for our customer service representatives. This career development program offers training for employees to take on increased responsibilities, increase pay, and get specialized training and coaching. For those in customer service, it’s a structured way to succeed.

Initiatives like Alta’s Elite Partner Program let our retail partners know how much we appreciate loyalty. The Elite Partners Program rewards those retailers who meet defined sales levels with exclusive trips to exciting destinations.

Our Culture

Hiring the right people is critical to creating a successful, supportive workplace. We understand that each person — from our managers to customer service reps to administrative staff and our sales team — has the ability to impact our culture positively or negatively. That’s why we want people who embrace our customer-centric values and smart work ethic. After all, the people you work with are actually the most important resources in the company.
